Fleet tire management: CPK, per-axle map and rotation

Every tire with lives, retreads, tread depth and cost per kilometer, allocated by axle position on a visual map — with retread and repair dispatch and inventory with discrepancies.

A tire management system follows every tire in the fleet from the first to the last kilometer: its life (new, first and second retread), tread-depth inspections, cost per kilometer (CPK) and the position it is mounted in on each axle. In BrainCargo’s module the tire is an item with history: allocation by position on the vehicle’s visual map, rotation, dispatch to retread or repair, inventory with discrepancies and CPK per tire and per supplier — inside fleet management, next to maintenance and fueling.

Tires are one of the fleet’s largest variable costs and the hardest to see on a spreadsheet: the tire moves between vehicles, positions and lives, and the cost gets lost along the way. With every tire identified and every movement recorded, CPK appears per tire, per brand and per vehicle — and the decision to retread or scrap stops being a guess.

Tire control is part of the fleet management module, with maintenance, documents, fueling and fines on the same vehicle master data.

What you can achieve

1

history per tire

Lives, retreads, tread depth, position and cost — the tire is an item with a trail, not a number in stock.

CPK

per tire and per supplier

Cost per kilometer calculated from what was paid and what was driven, to compare brands and retreaders.

Map

by axle position

The visual map shows which tire sits in which position on every vehicle and combination.

0

tires without a destination

Inventory with discrepancies: what is on the vehicle, in stock, at the retreader and in repair.

Why this module

CPK for real

Cost per kilometer per tire, brand and supplier — the basis for buying better and deciding on retreads.

A map, not a list

Each tire’s position on every vehicle and trailer combination, with rotation recorded.

No lost tires

Stock, vehicle, retreader and repair shop in one inventory with discrepancies.

Inside the fleet

The same vehicle master data as maintenance, documents and fueling.

How to control tires in 4 steps

  1. Identify every tire

Registration with brand, size, DOT and serial (or tag); the new tire enters stock with its cost.

  2. Mount it on the map

Allocate the tire to the axle position on the vehicle’s visual map; the system starts counting the kilometers run in that position.

  3. Inspect and rotate

Record tread depth and pressure at inspections; change position or vehicle with the mileage in the history.

  4. Retread, repair or scrap — with CPK in hand

Dispatch to the retreader or repair shop with controlled return; the per-tire CPK says whether another life is worth it.

Frequently asked questions

What is a tire management system?

It is individual control of every tire in the fleet: identification, life, tread-depth inspections, axle position, rotation, retreading and cost per kilometer. The goal is knowing how much each tire costs per km driven and when to replace, retread or scrap.

How do I calculate a tire’s CPK?

CPK = total tire cost (purchase + retreads + repairs) divided by the kilometers run across all lives. The system sums kilometers per position from validated odometer readings and calculates CPK per tire, brand and supplier.

Does the system read pressure sensors (TPMS)?

Tread-depth and pressure inspections are recorded in the system (via the app or dashboard). Third-party TPMS sensors can feed the history through integration, on request.

Does it work for B-double and road-train combinations (bitrem/rodotrem)?

Yes. The position map covers the combination’s tractor and trailers; a tire moving to another trailer carries its history along.
